The prodigal son, took his inheritance, left his father, his soul, and went and spent everything under direction of the spirits of flesh/head on pleasures.
He came crawling back near starved to from lack of joy to his father, his soul, who welcomed him with joy.
Joy is the chemical cocktail reward produced by the soul/mammalian brain / limbic system every breath that it thinks that the individual is attempting to serve the greater good.
Pleasure is the host of chemical rewards produced by the hypothalamus/ cerebral cortex to enslave the person to serve personal interest including their small Collective group. Happiness, comfort, safety, pleasure, intoxication, lust, greed, selfishness are among the primary spirits that we feel inside that are manifestation of enslavement to the flesh/head spirits.
